Sound effects are all about the artificial creation of reality and try to mimic it as such. However, there are times when you might want the real thing. Sound effects can be the recording of real sounds too. A combination of artificial and real sound effects, are used to great effect in film production.
Sometimes real sounds can be used in place of other real sounds (ex…the sound of a firework explosion used as a gunshot). The sound isn`t artificial, the perception of it is. We perceived and accepted a firework explosion as the sound of a gunshot. "Why?"...
